Day 62
Listen to Today’s Reading:
Do you think your words have power? I think we’ve all seen instances where someone lost their temper, shouted hurtful things, and turned up the intensity of the situation. Have you also witnessed a situation that was out of control and then someone communicated calmly, kindly, and patiently and helped settle everything (and everyone) down? Your words have the power to fire things up or calm things down.
Today’s Passage: Proverbs 15:1
"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."
Reflect: So how do you handle a tense situation? Are you someone who brings peace and calm and listens well? Or do your words stir things up and cause harm? We all have the power to use our words in such a way that brings peace and understanding. Where and when should you press pause before you speak so that you can choose calm, kind words?
Pray: Ask God to help you use words that are gentle, kind, and patient. Seek him in the moments when you feel you are going to lose control of your words and speak in anger.
