Day 7
Listen to Today’s Reading:
What is the most important thing you can do as a follower of Jesus? A group of religious leaders were trying to trip Jesus up when they asked this question because they thought there were a ton of rules to follow to be a Christian. It’s easy for us to get overwhelmed trying to follow all the rules to be a good Christian. But Jesus made it super clear and easy. Grab your Bible and give me 10 minutes.
Today’s Passage: Matthew 22:34–40
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
This is what it looks like to follow Jesus: “Love God and love others.” It’s simple and clear, but it can also be incredibly challenging.
Reflect: Loving God often looks like loving others. So how can you love someone this week? Think of someone specific.
Pray: Write their name down and ask God to help you love them like Jesus loves you.
