Day 20
Listen to Today’s Reading:
What would change about your behavior or reactions if you were absolutely certain Jesus was with you? There is a story in the book of Acts about Paul and Silas being thrown into prison. Look it up and read the whole story; it’s incredible!
At one point, Paul and Silas are in a terrible situation. They are in chains with no hope of getting out of prison. Yet in the midst of their distress and adversity, they began to worship. They took their eyes off of their circumstances and worshiped Jesus.
Today’s Passage: Acts 16:25–28
25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”
Your ability to worship Jesus—to keep your eyes and heart on him—in the good and the bad has the power to change your circumstances. Not only that, your worship has the power to help lead others to Jesus and set them free.
Reflect: Spend some time in worship this morning. No matter what else is happening in your life, worship Jesus for who he is and what he has done for you.
Pray: Ask God to use your worship to impact others.
