Day 9

For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
— Matthew 23:12 NIV

When we make mistakes, we don’t usually respond by admitting them and apologizing. If we’re being honest, most of us would say our first response is to defend ourselves. Instead of choosing a humble posture and owning our actions, we let pride lead us to justify our actions and to prove we’re right. But as this verse reminds us, humility is the way to win. If we want to grow as people and in our faith, we must choose humility at every turn—even when it’s hard and even when it means admitting we’re wrong.

Is there someone in your life who needs to hear you admit you’re wrong and apologize for a foolish choice you made? Someone you owe some humility? Take a bold step this week to act in humility toward that person by owning your actions.
