Day 8

In John 8:1–8, we read the story of a woman who was caught in adultery, an act that could result in her being put to death. An emerging crowd tried to stone her, but something strange occurred. Jesus stepped into what could only be described as a chaotic situation and wrote something on the ground. We don’t know what he wrote, but it caused all of her accusers to walk away. Then Jesus looked her in the eye and told her that she was not condemned and to leave her life of sin. How amazing that Jesus isn’t afraid of stepping into the mess—into our mess. And when he steps in, he meets us with the grace to pick us up and the truth to move us forward.

Prayer
God, thank you for being willing to step into my mess. Thank you for meeting me where I was and loving me enough to help me move toward the purpose you have for my life. Help me see the ways I can show that grace to others.
