Day 17

John 17 is an intercessory prayer by Jesus for his followers. In verses 20–23, Jesus prayed for you and me. We are “those who will believe” (v. 20) in Jesus through the message shared by the disciples! And he prayed that we would live in unity—with our fellow Jesus followers and with our heavenly Father—just as Jesus is in unity with the Father. And all for this purpose: that the world would believe in Jesus as the good news of the kingdom of God and that they would know God’s love for them.

What does unity look like for you and your immediate community (i.e., small group, InsideOut, a Bible study)?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us so much that you sent Jesus to love us. Draw me into further unity with you and the family of Christ around me, and may this unity be a public expression of your love to my school, my family, and the world you have created me to be a part of. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
