Day 1

Listen:

Have you ever felt a prolonged time of stress and anxiety? Maybe it’s school work, finals, and struggles at school. Maybe it’s home and family related. We all go through times in life where the pressure and stress feels like it’s building. But the real question is: what can you do about it? Set aside some time today and put into action what this passage teaches.

Today’s Passage: Philippians 4:6–7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Look It Up: Grab your Bible and look up Philippians 4:6-7. Read it a few times. Highlight and underline the action steps this verse encourages.

Reflect: When the pressure is on, look for opportunities to step away, get quiet, and talk to God about it. He cares about what’s happening in your life. He cares about the burdens you carry and he wants to help you. When you’re talking to God, tell him how you're feeling and ask him to help you. Finally, stop and remember the good things. Part of the recipe of dealing with stress and anxiety is to look for the blessings.

Write It Down: Grab your journal and answer these questions.

  • What is causing you to feel anxious and stressed?

  • What do you want God to know about it?

  • What do you want to ask God for?

  • What are three things you’re grateful for?

Pray: Spend a few minutes talking to God. Share with him how you’re feeling and all that you’re carrying. Then get quiet and ask God to comfort you and to bring you peace in spite of all that’s going on in your world.
