Day 6
Listen:
Have you ever met someone who was going through a really difficult time and yet they seemed so steady and at peace? The ability to carry heavy and difficult things and still be able to live with a sense of inner peace comes from a very specific place. Inner peace, in spite of what is happening around you, comes from knowing God is in control and that he’s with you. It comes from trusting him.
Today’s Passage: Isaiah 26:3–4
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.”
Look It Up: Look up this passage in Isaiah and highlight what stands out to you.
Reflect: We are all human and at times we get overwhelmed and stressed out. Sometimes our struggles are big and out of our control. But a deep inner sense of peace, no matter how stressful the situation, comes from believing that God’s got it. It comes from a personal relationship with him where you trust him in big and small ways with your life. It comes from knowing that he’s with you and he’s got you.
Write It Down: Grab your journal and answer these questions.
When have you felt overwhelmed and out of control?
When have you seen God show up for you or for someone else in your life?
What does it look like to trust God with the big and small things of your life?
Where are you trying to stay in control instead of trusting him?
Pray: Ask God to show you where you are taking control instead of trusting him. Ask him to show you that he is with you. Spend some quiet time today listening to God.
